Cancer Effects the Whole Family
Sajni's Siblings is Love Bus's dedicated program for the brothers and sisters of children with cancer. It was built on a simple recognition: siblings carry an enormous amount during a family's cancer journey, and they carry most of it without being asked. They watch their parents stretch thin. They give up attention, events, and ordinary childhood moments without complaint. They love their sibling fiercely and feel the weight of that love every day.
Sajni's Siblings gives them a place that is entirely theirs — structured experiences designed around joy, connection, and the freedom to just be a kid for a while.
What Siblings Experience Through This Program
This program complements our Lucy’s Children program, empowering the sibling(s) of children with cancer with their own chance to participate in integrative therapies and activities of their choice; either together to facilitate bonding time outside of the hospital or home, or as a solo activity, giving the sibling a chance to focus on their own needs and fulfillment. This program also supports bereaved siblings, allowing them a chance to participate in an activity to support them in the grieving process.

Parents of children with cancer carry a weight that is difficult to describe to anyone outside it. The guilt of divided attention — knowing your other children need you and not always being able to be there — is one of the hardest parts. Love Bus's sibling support programs are designed specifically to carry that piece so you don't have to.

Questions Parents Ask About Sibling Support
What are the eligibility requirements for this program?
Funding is available through the Sajni's Siblings program to children and young adults in New England ages 25 and under who have or had a sibling who was diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21. The sibling must be living in and/or use their funding for support in New England.
What programs exist for brothers and sisters of cancer patients in New England?
Love Bus's Sajni's Siblings program is specifically designed for the siblings of children with cancer throughout New England. It is one of the few programs of its kind outside of hospital settings in the region, offering dedicated experiences for siblings alongside whole-family programming that brings the entire family together.
How does this program work?
Sajni's Siblings mirrors and complements the Lucy's Children patient support program and Ilene's Caregivers parent support program in that siblings received designated funding to be used towards fees associated with their activities or integrative therapies of choice. They can do these solo for some time where they are the focus, or for services alongside their sick sibling. Some siblings participate in more active experiences such as gymnastics, that their parents would not be able to afford without this support.
